David and Victoria Beckham to build ‘escape tunnel’ out of country pile

David and Victoria Beckham are planning to build an ‘escape tunnel’ under their lavish Costwold county pile.

The Inter Miami CF owner, 45, and Spice Girl, 46, want to ensure that their £6million home is safe and are hoping that plans submitted to the council will allow them to add an underground passageway and security hut.

According to new planning applications seen by Express.co.uk, the singer turned designer and former England player are seeking permission to add a lower level walkway from their nine bedroom abode and a wine cellar.

The couples planning agent dished: “The proposed development includes a new basement cellar constructed beneath the extension to the existing garage outbuilding with a linked walkway.

“The basement cellar beneath is for storage of wine and the proposed use of the outbuilding is solely in association with the main dwelling house.

“It will improve security for the occupants of the property.

“The proposed [garage] extension adds three new bays to the existing garage outbuilding, increasing the building from four bays to seven.”

David and Victoria are currently holed up their lavish Cotswolds home amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The wealthy pair are there with their kids Romeo, 17, Cruz, 15 and Harper, eight – their eldest son Brookyln, 21, is self-isolating away from his family with girlfriend Nicola Peltz.

The Beckham’s place has an expansive outdoor space which boasts a plunge pool and traditional Estonian sauna and steam room to ensure they can spa.

There’s a fire pit for al fresco dinners and barbecues in the sunshine and Posh and Becks even drafted in a Chelsea Flower Show winner to create a ‘fairytale’ garden with a natural swimming pond.

The property also boasts a £30,000 tennis court.

The place has an enviable kitchen that brims with top-notch cooking utensils and even a pizza oven that would not be out of place in an Italian restaurant.

Their home away from home cooking space has trendy exposed brick walls and teal cupboards create a rustic yet luxurious feel.

As for their living room, wooden beams run across the ceiling and there is a dark chequered carpet, plenty of candles and an enormous fireplace to add to the relaxing ambience.

The space is complimented by plush velvet sofas and sumptuous rugs.

The Beckhams even have a movie room have a games arcade in their country estate.
